Daigozakura is a giant Azumahiganzakura tree in Maniwa City that is estimated to be about 1,000 years old and measures 20m north-south-east.

It is said that during the Warring States period, Emperor Go-Daigo admired the tree on his way back from Oki Island and gave it its name, hence the name "Daigozakura."
It is a single cherry tree that has been selected as one of Japan's 100 Famous Trees.

The tree blooms from late March to early April, and is lit up from 6:30pm to 9pm.
